Mokokchung, March 23 (EMN): The district-level indigenous games were held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung on March 23.
The indigenous games included tug-of-war for men and women, stilt bamboo race, greased bamboo pole climbing and cockfight. Participants from various wards under Mokokchung Municipality took part in the event.
An update from district sports officer Mangla Imchen stated that in the tug-of-war male category- Yimyu ward was declared the winner while Lijaba Lijen ward secured the runner-up position. In the tug-of-war female category- Yimyu ward was adjudged the winner and Lijaba Lijen ward was the runner-up.
In the cockfight competition- Lijaba Lijen ward was declared the winner and Tongdentsuyong ward was the runner-up. Meanwhile, in greased bamboo pole climbing- Lijaba Lijen ward was declared the winner and Tongdentsutyong ward was the runner-up. In the stilt bamboo race- Yimyu ward was declared the winner and Sangtemla ward secured the runner-up position.
Imchen also informed that winners of various categories would represent Mokokchung district in the up-coming state-level indigenous games schedule to be held on April 8 and 9 at IG Stadium in Kohima.
