Kohima, Sep. 1 ( EMN): The Kohima district level football competition in memory of Capt (late) N Kengruse, MVC organised by 3rd (Naga Hills) Bn Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) got underway at the Kohima local ground on Saturday.
In the first match, Ziekiezuo SC defeated Rustic Boys FC by a solitary goal. The winner of Khriekesa FC or Agape FC will take on Ziekiezuo SC in the semifinals match of Pool A.
While in Pool B matches, Nehrema Village FC thrashed Twenty XI FC 5-2 in the second match. Nehrema FC will clash against Naga FC in the semifinal match.
Seven clubs are participating in the tournament namely Ziekiezuo SC, Rustic Boys FC, Khriekesa FC, Agape FC, Twenty XI FC, Nehrema Village FC and Naga FC.
The champions of the tournament will receive a cash of INR 25,000 along with trophy and citation, while the runners-up will receive INR 15000. The tournament will conclude on Sep. 5.
The top two teams from Kohima district will be selected to play for the upcoming state level tournament of Kengruse trophy in mid September.
