Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): Preparations are underway towards making District Hospital, Dimapur, attain Indian public health standard (IPHS). In this regards, the regional director of Health Mission, Government of India, Guwahati, Dr. Parthajyoti Gogoi, visited the hospital and held interaction with the officials on June 25.
Interacting with the officials, Dr. Parthajyoti Gogoi stated that all hospitals should be brought up towards attaining the average Indian public health standards (IPHS). The purpose of his visit to the district hospital was to make necessary assessments and find out the gaps in terms of human resources and infrastructure.
Dr. Gogoi interacted with Dr. Z Kheshito Zhimo, medical superintend and medical officers in-charge of various departments in district hospital. He also visited the blood bank and the sentinel surveillance site.
He suggested to the respective department in-charges to raise their needs and demand to bring each component of district hospital as per the IPHS guidelines. He further urged them to fill up the IPHS format to find out the gaps so as to resolve them and bring the hospital up to the set standard.
The IPHS is set of standards envisaged to improve the quality of healthcare delivery system in the country.
