
DIMAPUR — A total of 66 cases of dengue were reported at the District Hospital Dimapur over the last two months, with 51 of these cases detected in Dimapur area.
Peter Sangtam, District Vector Borne disease consultant (DVBDC) Dimapur, informed that out of the 66 dengue cases detected between June and July this year, 15 were imported cases with 12 originating from Assam and three from other districts of Nagaland.
The official said that majority of the dengue cases were reported from Nagarjan area and Dimapur town area, and some positive cases from Chümoukedima district. However, no cases have been reported from Niuland district so far.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]To prevent the disease from spreading, Sangtam urged the citizens to regularly inspect and remove water found in containers such as flower pots, old tires, buckets, and open water storage etc. around their homes which can serve as breeding ground for mosquitoes that spread dengue virus.
He also advised the people to use mosquito nets while sleeping and to seek medical help if any individual experience symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, rash, or bleeding.
These measures can play a critical role in preventing mosquito-borne diseases and ensuring early diagnosis and appropriate medical care, it was informed.
