DIMAPUR — A much-needed radio diagnostic centre at District Hospital Dimapur was inaugurated by Moatoshi Longkumer, Advisor for Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Excise, on Saturday.
The centre, installed in collaboration with Tikvah Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., will offer services such as CT scans, ultrasounds, and X-ray facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Longkumer asserted that access to reliable and affordable healthcare remains a significant challenge in Nagaland, particularly for low-income families.

However, he expressed hope that the establishment of the centre will help towards bridging this gap.
According to him, the ‘state-of-the-art diagnostic centre’ will serve people across the state by offering timely and accurate diagnoses and will enable doctors to detect illnesses early and initiate prompt medical treatment at an affordable cost.
He urged all stakeholders to work together and fully utilise this facility for the benefit of the people, ensuring it remains accessible to everyone.
Benthungo Kithan, the director of Tikvah Healthcare, pointed out that Dimapur serves as a lifeline for many, including people from nearby villages, towns, and even neighbouring states who come in search of better healthcare services.
Furthermore, he mentioned that to alleviate financial challenges, they have ensured that service charges are minimum—20% to 42% lower than those at other private hospitals in Dimapur.
Kithan shared that their vision had been to establish a centre offering advanced diagnostic services comparable to those in larger cities but at an affordable price.
He informed that the newly installed facility comes fitted with the latest machinery to ensure precise, fast, and efficient diagnoses.
He mentioned that they have installed the GE Revolution Aspire edition of CT scan machine, ‘the first and most advanced of its kind in Nagaland.’
The machine provides superior imaging quality with enhanced anatomical details while also offering up to 40% lower radiation doses, he said.
In addition, they have an ultrasound machine powered by the Samsung V6 model, which delivers exceptional 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging capabilities, and it is powered by Crystal Architecture, the latest technology available in the market, he added.

The third service is an X-ray machine powered by Siemens, designed to provide high-resolution imaging while minimising radiation exposure, ensuring the safety and benefit of the patients, it was informed.
Kithan said that they plan to further advance and equip the facility by introducing an MRI service in the second phase.
While interacting with media persons after the programme, he shared that this is a public-private partnership (PPP) initiative.
According to him, their agreement stipulates that for a 25-year period, they will equip and operate the Radio Diagnostic Department at District Hospital Dimapur, after which the facility will be transferred back to the hospital.
He mentioned that all staff, workers, and employees will be on the payroll of Tikvah Healthcare, and once they transfer it to the department, the responsibility of the employees will fall under the department concerned.
He informed that this arrangement is based on profit-sharing; however, after negotiating with the state government, they will be under a monitoring period for the next two years, during which no profit will be shared. After the two-year period, they will begin sharing 10% of the profit with the department.
