District Child Protection Unit Noklak holds sensitisation programme on child legislation
Officials and participants during sensitisation and awareness programme on children legislation held at Khaokhan Council Hall, Noklak.


DIMAPUR — The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Noklak, under Mission Vatsalya of the Department of Social Welfare, organised a sensitisation and awareness programme on children legislation and different child protection mechanisms at Khaokhan Council Hall, Noklak on September 12.


According to a DIPR report, the programme was specially designed for Anganwadi workers, helpers and ASHA workers, who play a crucial role at the grassroots level in safeguarding the rights and welfare of children.


In his keynote address, Kito Ayemi, DCPO, Noklak, highlighted the importance of child protection mechanisms and community participation in ensuring children’s safety.


Thaiming T, supervisor at CHL, DCPU, delivered a presentation on CHILDLINE 1098 services, highlighting its 24/7 availability to support children in distress.

Manggol L Phom, PO NIC, DCPU, led a session on child legislation, discussing key legal frameworks that protect children's rights and welfare.


An interactive question hour allowed participants to share concerns and seek clarifications, enhancing the practical understanding of child protection measures.


The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Hatho P, project coordinator at CHL, DCPU, and benediction by Chongkoi K, social worker, DCPU.


Earlier, the programme, chaired by counsellor at CHL, DCPU, Tangnyu, commenced with an invocation by Phaam, ASHA worker,


“The initiative aims to strengthen awareness among community-level workers and to equip them with knowledge about existing child protection mechanisms, thereby ensuring better safety and care for children in the district,” the report stated.
