Dimapur, July 26 : Piqued by government’s failure to address its memorandum submitted on July 20, the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) today urged the State chief secretary to intervene and fulfill within 7 days.
The ENCSU in an ultimatum to chief secretary warned that if the government and the Technical department fail to fulfill their demands within the given period of time, the union would resort to its own course of action and that it would not be held responsible for any untoward situation.
In the ultimatum signed by ENCSU chairman M.Longre Chang and joint secretary Nokchem Angth, the union demanded that no counseling for the 2016-17 NSEE batch be conducted without fulfilling the demands made by Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU).
ENCSU also demanded an immediate review of NSSE results 2016 which was declared on July 15 by the Technical department and to allocate the 4 seats missing from the BTs quota to the candidates belonging to BTs whatsoever either by conducting entrance re-examination solely for candidates belonging to BTs or award grace marks.
The union said, back log seats from past 1 year i.e. 2015-16 should be given back to BTs without any consideration in order to delivered justice to the candidates from the deprived areas.
The ENCSU also asked the government to strictly implement government notification (vide. NO.HTE/RESERV/23-1/2012 (Pt)/// under Reservation part II clause (a).)
The union asked the government to strike out the Part III Selection Clause (d) from the same notification mentioned in ENCSU ultimatum point No. 4 as it is against the BT reservation policy of the government.
The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union had in its memorandum to the government and Technical department pointed out that in 2015 when NSEE was conducted only 22 candidates could secure 288 marks and above. The government therefore re-conducted NSEE for fully remaining seats. However, only 3 seats of B.T were filled and the remaining was given to other candidates.
“No further chance was given to B.T in the form of re-exam or mark consideration. Even this year in NSEE 2016 only 3 BT candidates has been selection under B.T citing so called 40% cut off mark and no re-exam or mark consideration has been done by the government and the department like in the past year i.e. 2015.”
“As far as the quota for B.T is concerned, the BTs are to get 4 seats which the government and the Department had failed to implement. Hence, the union asked to withhold conducting counseling until the demand is fulfills.”
“As per the Government Notification dated: 30th May 2016, there is no such cut off mark mentioned. Therefore, the Union would like to know what exactly the Cut off Mark for BT and Others? However, surprisingly the same notification under No. III Selection Clause (c) had clearly mentioned that separate merit list to be maintained then why this list is not maintained and implemented?”
“However, it is a wonder a miracles as to how the NSEE could conduct such an exam that exactly only the required candidates could qualify & the rest could score below 288 can this magic also be explained?”
“The union had also learned that in 2014 NSEE when only few students could reach cut off marks, the Government and the Department had made and alternative arrangement by compiling marks secured in AIPMT and NSEE in order to fill the vacant seats. So we would like to know why the same procedure was not implemented in 2015 and this year when the BTs could not reach the so called 40% cut off marks?”
