Dimapur, Dec. 19 (EMN): The Department of Information & Public Relations celebrated advent Christmas on Dec. 18 at IPR Citadel, Kohima. Secretary of Information & Public Relations, Lithrongla G Chishi graced the occasion while Rev. Dr. Tseibu Rutsa delivered the Christmas message.
Director IPR Limawati Ao in his greetings highlighted the achievements of the department and said that by God’s grace 2017 has been an eventful year. He said that Christmas is a time to rejoice and share love with family and friends while also counting one’s blessings.
The secretary in her speech said that Christmas is about giving, sharing, love and joy. She added that we should have a spirit of love not only during Christmas but throughout the year. She called upon the gathering to let Christ be born in their hearts everyday and let 2018 be a year to commit oneself as a Christian and be a channel of peace, love and help the needy. She also said that work is worship and as a Christian one should try to be better government employee.
Rev. Rutsa in his message said Christmas is a reason/time to forgive one another and show one’s care and love for our near and dear ones in Christ. Christmas is confined not only to merry making but it means the repentance of one individual from our past iniquities, he added. He said the best gift to parents during Christmas season is to accept Jesus Christ as our personal savior and live in his righteousness. He further urged all officers and staff to be sincere and dedicated in their official assignments and work with renewed vigour.
Registrat IPR Wati Atsongchanger called upon the gathering to commit oneself to God while celebrating Christmas.
Other highlights of the programme included an inter-section choral competition, which was followed by entertainment session, karaoke, bonfire and Christmas feast.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Kohima celebrated advent Christmas on Tuesday at the office premise, with Pastor of Ebenezer Church, Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu as speaker.
The programme was chaired by Joint Director NSACS Metevinuo Sakhrie while Deputy Director DHFW Dr. Puse Leigise read out the scripture and said paryer and Principal Director DHFW Dr. N Bendangyanger Jamir conveyed Christmas greetings.
Christmas carols, special numbers are presented by various sections of the department. The celebration concluded with benediction pronounced by Addl. Director DHFW Dr. Vikeyie Losu.
