Diphu, August 30 (EMN): In Tamulbari District Council Reserve Forest (DCRF) land encroachment is taking place where the land encroachers have been clearing the DCRF area and trees have been cut down. In regard to the situation the forest department officials of central Range and Protection Range under Forest West Division, Diphu visited to the spot and evicted the land encroachers from the forest area today around 1 pm reportedly. The total forest area of Tamulbari DCRF is 13.86 km
According to the forest official statement, the land encroachment took place in Tamulbari DCRF since last month. The officials said that on 27 July the forest department had taken up the land eviction drives to the illegal forest land encroachers from the district council forest area and again carried out the eviction drives today.
They have also informed that more than 300 peoples gathered in the District Council forest area early in the morning where young men and women were seen taking part in the encroachment of forest land. Furthermore, they informed that villagers mostly from Longnit, Kheroni, Borlangfer and Hamren area took part in the land encroachment where they gather twice in a week i.e on every Wednesday and Saturday for clearing the forest area.
In order to bring the situation under control, police personal from Diphu Sadar Police Thana and Diphu Town outpost rushed to the spot and disperse the land encroacher from the area. Concerning this FIR has been lodge at Borlangfer police station. Presently the forest department had set up camp at 12 KM in order to give protection on District Council Reserve Forest from the hands of land encroachers.
