Diphu, July 28: A memorandum was submitted to CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang by the teaching and non teaching staffs of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) at his official chamber at KAAC Secretariat here on Friday, for payment of 14 months outstanding salaries of the DIET employees of the district.
The memorandum of the DIET staff stated that they were working in the said office from March, 2016, however for 14 months they have not received their salaries. Only the salaries for the month of March 2016 and of March 2017 were received, they said.
Further DIET said that in other districts are under centrally sponsored scheme and salaries are managed by director, SCERT, Assam and salaries were regular from their respective district treasury, except those DIETs under the Autonomous Council i.e. Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao and BTAD. In BTAD the salaries of DIET employees are adjust from BTC fund.
The DIET employees also stated that the budget for DIET, Karbi Anglong was released through Hills Area Development (HAD) department. An amount of Rs. 18.64 lakh as second installment has been released to the SCERT, Assam from MHRD on March 21, 2017 for the year 2016-17; however the directorate of SCERT, Assam could not provide the MHRD the release order copy to DIET, Karbi Anglong. According to report, there are five teaching staffs and seven non teaching staffs of DIET, in Diphu.
