Dimapur, May 31: In a generous gesture, people of Dimapur came together to help a young student named Neilavonuo Yhome, who is currently undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, for a rare disease.
The 16-year-old student is said to be in the last stage of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), an uncommon disorder causing immune dysfunction that can be fatal.
The Dimapur Humanity Foundation (DHF) organised a charity concert along the Circular Road in Dimapur on the evening of May 29 to raise fund for Yhome’s bone marrow transplant that is expected to cost around INR 30 lakh. It managed to collect INR 1,42,920 during the event with crowds, pedestrians and proprietors of nearby stores donating money for the cause.
The DHF handed over the collected amount to Yhome’s father Khrielelie Yhome on Friday.
Khrielelie thanked everyone -- citizens, artists, volunteers, sound system team, and the Dimapur police -- for their help.
