Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): The second edition of Dimapur Youth Festival commenced on October 31 at DDSC Stadium. The three-day event, which will conclude on November 2, is organised by MW Enterprise in collaboration with Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Act of Kindness Society, Kongro Naga On Wheels (KNOW) and Musik-A.
On the first day of the event, Tribals United won Penalty Shootout and walked away with a cash prize of INR 20,000 and runners-up Juvenile FC received INR 10,000. Chakhro Angami Kuda Youth Organisation won Tug-of-War competition and received a cash prize of INR 10,000. In art competition, winner Abi Chakraborty received a cash prize of INR 7000.
At the opening ceremony of the event, Kingdom Culture Church Pastor, Visasier Kevichusa acknowledged that the organisers were doing something that contributes positively to the welfare of the society and that it is essentially serving God. He also encouraged them to keep contributing towards building the society so that they will be rewarded at the end.
Speaking on the occasion, founder and president, Act of Kindness Lenti Aier informed that Dimapur Youth Festival was organised with an aim to bring about change in the hearts of the young generation by instilling peace, unity and harmony. "Today marks such an occasion where we will witness every participant to bring out their uniqueness, not in fear but with complete freedom and passion,” Aier added.
It may be mentioned that a total of 13 bands from across Nagaland have signed up for the beat contest of the festival. The winner of the band hunt will take home INR 1 lakh. The judges for the beat contest are Mengu Suokhrie, Kevi Pucho and Toshimoa Jamir. Seven out of the 10 bands that played at the audition have been selected to play in the finals of the band hunt on November 1 at 5 pm. The selected bands are Jim Jam, Paradigm Shift, Since 90's, Few Good Men, Annie's Ok, Makt and Random Memories.
The second day of the festival will see bamboo climbing, art demonstration, eating competition and band hunt final followed by a live concert featuring Tune-up Channel, solo artist Nungshitula Pongener and Vito Awomi (August Rush winner 2019).
On the final day of the event, prizes for the winners of art and best photography composition award will be given away besides EDM night and live concert by Alobo Naga and the Band.
