
DIMAPUR: Dimapur district emerged winner of the state-level parliamentary quiz competition organised by the department of Parliamentary Affairs at Imagine Hall of the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Kohima on Friday. Kiphire district won the second position, followed by Longleng in the third position and Mokokchung district in the fourth position.
Speaking at the function, the commissioner and secretary of Youth Resources and Sports, Parliamentary Affairs, Wezope Kenye, said that quiz competition is about demonstrating creativity, innovation and the capacity of the students to think outside the box. He added that quiz competition is a reminder that knowledge is not limited to memorising facts but understanding how to fit things and ideas together to create a bigger picture, a DIPR report stated.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]He said the competition is being held to celebrate the remarkable young minds, their thirst and curiosity for knowledge and to explore and learn new ideas. He also reminded that the competition is not just about answering questions correctly, but also about showcasing the ability to think critically, to analyse, interpret information and to apply them in the real world.
Kenye urged the participants to approach the competition not just as a challenge but as an opportunity to learn and to grow. He encouraged the students to take advantage of the platform to showcase their skills and to gain new insights and perspectives.
Kenye conveyed his gratitude to all the participants, teachers and organisers who have made the competition possible and successful. He further assured that the department would continue to organise such events so as to encourage the students from Nagaland to participate in such events.
Altogether, students from 13 districts including the newly-created districts of Chümoukedima, Niuland and Tseminyü participated in the competition. The cash prizes for first winner was INR.20000, second winner INR 15000, third winner INR 10000) and fourth winner INR 5000.
More than 270 students from both private and government schools witnessed the competition.
The assistant professor of Kohima College, Dr. Eunice Alinger, delivered the welcome address and the junior section officer of Parliamentary Affairs, Mewelo Kepfoh, proposed the vote of thanks.
The assistant professor of Kohima College, Dr. Evothung Ezung, was the host of the competition.
