The top-billed rock contest Hornbill International Music Festival which used to be held in Kohima is gearing up to be held in the commercial hub of the state Dimapur for the first time.
The event will be two days i.e., Dec 1 and the 2nd at the Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC). The event is being managed by Concord Linx. From Dec. 3 till the 10th, the festival will be at the Agri Expo, at 4th mile Dimapur. It will be managed by Live Now Events.
This was informed by the Concord Linx and Live Now event at a press conference on Thur. Nov. 30.
Taking into consideration the prominence of the festival and with tourists coming in, the organisers have appealed to the Nagaland government to ‘at least fill potholes if not repair’ the stretch along the Agri Expo road.
Day-one of the music festival will see special appearance from Bollywood celebrity and Sufi musician Kailash Kher and his project band Surfira also featuring Margaret Shishak School of Music (MSSM); Patkai Christian College, Nagaland Conservatory of Music, Note Grid and TIME. Performance by Alobo Naga featuring DJ Amar and Methaneilie Jütakhrie will be on Dec. 1 at the DDSC at 5:00 pm onwards with free entry and seats available for Rs. 500.
The artists for day-two are The Stage season-2 winner Sharvi Yadav and finalist Abhishek Gurung, Mo and The Shooting Stars, Yen Zhimo, Ngukavi and East Wind Wood. The tickets will be available for Rs. 50 and seats available at Rs. 500.
Day-three has been dubbed the “Praise Sunday.” It will see Kenny and the Faith band, Jack Pucho and the Warehouse and Tali Angh on stage.
Nagaland Unboxed, day-four, will see Swevens and The Gluttons, Tune Up Channel, Incipit, ANTB and Lords of Rock on stage.
On Dec. 5 the Hornbill International Rock Contest preliminaries will take place. The event will be judged by Uday Benegal (Indus Creed), Soumini Sridhara Paul Vice president of Hungama Digital Media Artist Aloud and Mhassevi Tetseo. The final will be held on Dec. 8.
The Jam Tree School, Ronnie, Rudy Wallang and the Blu featuring Leon Wallang will take the stage on day-nine of the festival dubbed the ‘Cue Blue’ while day-10 dubbed the “Digital Tribe” will see performances from DJ Lil’Bomb, DJ Ina and DJ Teri Miko.
The tickets to the event at Agri Expo are priced at Rs. 100 which will be available at the venue. The concert will start at 6: 00 pm, the event organisers informed.
