SVEEP Campaign at SM College[/caption]
Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): As part of the short-term SVEEP Action Plan, the District Election Office, Dimapur, along with the District Icon visited five colleges and two Higher Secondary Schools, conducted a meeting-cum-seminar with the church youth leaders of Dimapur town, and visited two ministries: Sinai and Kingdom Culture Church in the month of July and August 2017.
The SVEEP campaign was initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) with a target of making India a participative and vibrant democracy. The campaign aims to educate voters of their electoral rights, responsibility of participation, corrupt evil practices, evils of money and liquor influences, practices of ethical and informed voting and providing continuous electoral and democracy education to the people.
During the college/ school and ministry visits, Roland Merry, AEO, Dimapur, briefly highlighted about SVEEP campaign of the ECI and encouraged them to get enrolled in the electoral roll and participate in the electoral process. He also elaborated on the process of registration in the electoral roll, electoral procedures, and about ethical, informed and inducement-free voting.

Miss Zehovire Avi Kechu, Dimapur District Icon (SVEEP) encouraged and challenged the students -To stand for truth, justice, honesty, unity and peace; To be a proud voter and take voting as a responsibility; To have a vision and change our medieval mindset; and To work together as one so as to bring a change and make our dreams a reality.
Quoting a verse from the Bible (Luke 1:37), “Faith does not make things easy, it makes them possible,” she encouraged the youngsters to have faith and to pray for Nagaland and also to spread love and not hatred.
She also encouraged and challenged them with the quote “One generation teaches the next generation, so what are you going to teach your next generation”
Kesonyu Yhome, DC & DEO Dimapur, also visited Unity College and Cornerstone Higher Secondary School and exhorted the students about the importance of voting and participation in the electoral process.
A meeting-cum-seminar with church youth leaders of Dimapur town was conducted on September 1. The participants were highlighted on various electoral and election related process. Sara S Jamir, ADC and Nodal Officer (SVEEP), Dimapur, urged upon the youth leaders to convey to their respective youth the message about ethical and informed voting and responsibility of participation in the electoral process.
