DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24
Dimapur would be hosting the 2nd National Peace Convention scheduled to be held from January 30 to February 1 next year. The convention has been organized by the National Peace Movement in collaboration with Rotary International Dist. 3040 and 3240, North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research, Peace Channel, Universal Solidarity Movement and other like-minded organizations.
Announcing this in a press conference here today in Dimapur, the organizers informed that participants from across the country would include social activists, educationists, Rotarians, journalists, writers, NGO representatives “and people of goodwill who work for peace and universal solidarity.”

According to Dr CP Anto, the convener of the local organizing committee and vice president of National Peace Movement, the event would be divided into two segments. The first two days would form the first segment scheduled to be hosted at Hotel Acacia.
The second segment, on the final day, would be exclusively for the youths, to be hosted at Town Hall Dimapur. Besides seeking to build friendship and enhance integration among the different communities, the organizers also hopes to highlight the problems of the north east states through such interactions.
Nagaland Governor, PB Acharya, who was supposed to be the chief guest at the event, has conveyed his inability to attend the same, the organizers also informed.
Some of the speakers at the event include the renowned social activitst, Medha Patkar, great-grandson of the Mahatma, Tusahr Gandhi, Nobel Prize nominee, Dr Thomas Menamparampil, convener of FNR, Rev Dr Wati and peace activist, Niketu Iralu, among others. Interested persons could register with a fee of Rs 2500, the organizers informed.
