Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): In a late report, the PRO of Dimapur police stated that on Nov. 3 it apprehended 5 persons from a residence at Sematilla colony in Dimapur with a large number of Aadhaar related forms and fake documents.
It further reported that investigations have revealed that the accused have been enrolling a large number of fresh Aadhaar applicants from Dimapur and neighbouring districts of Assam with a fee of INR 500.
"The applicants are suspected to be mostly non-locals whose Aadhaar UID is being generated using fictitious documents. Accordingly a case has been registered at Sub Urban Police Station Dimapur for further investigation," stated the police.
The raid was conducted by a team of Dimapur Commissionerate Special Branch along with the Officer-in-Charge of Sub-Urban Police Station wherein they confiscated 7 laptops, 5 GPS devices, 6 printers, 6 fingerprint scanners, 5 iris scanners, 8 mobile handsets, 2 mini fingerprint devices and a cash amount of INR 15500.
The arrested were one Santosh Choudhary Mahato (23 yrs) of Sangtamtilla; Umesh Gour (23 yrs) of Lhomithi Colony; Bittu Kumar Choudhary (20 yrs) of Sematilla, (4) Raj KumarJaiswal (20 yrs)of Ghorapatti; and Raju Kumar C Choudhary (36 yrs) of Sematilla.
