According to the police, most of the non-locals found dead are beggars who often die due to illness, starvation, or drug overdose.
Many of these individuals arrive in Nagaland by train and continue begging despite being sent back, as they reportedly earn more in Nagaland.
Police also mentioned that in the case of newborns, any recovered infant body automatically leads to the registration of a case under infanticide.
