
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): Joining the rest of the country, the Dimapur Police Commissionerate observed the 59th Police Commemoration Day on October 21 at its office in Dimapur.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner of police, Rothihu Tetseo, informed that around 35,600 policemen and women have laid down their lives while safeguarding the nation and security of the citizens from 1947 till date.
"Among them one of our brave late UBC Thiubuibo Zeliang, who was in SOT, laid down his life on July 14 during the operation. Today, we honour him and acknowledge his supreme sacrifice," CP Dimapur said.
On behalf of the personnel from the police commissionerate, Tetseo handed over cash incentive to the wife of late Thiubuibo Zeliang, who was present on the occasion with her daughter.
Commemorating the day, CP Dimapur received the general salute, read out the roll of honour, thereafter the Nishan commander placed the roll of honour on the cenotaph.
During the event, a two minutes silence ‘Samarak ko Salami’ was also observed. It was followed with laying of wreaths by the family of the unit martyr along with the CP Dimapur and other officers.

The national police commemoration day is observed every year on October 21 in paying homage to 10 policemen killed in the firing by Chinese troops in 1959 at Ladakh Hotspring and other policemen and women who laid down their lives in the service of the motherland.
