Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): Dimapur police personnel have arrested 35 persons on charges of various criminal offences during the past one week. The accused persons were taken into custody for further investigation.
On September 25, Dimapur police arrested one person identified as Thukhuru (42), a resident of Chozuba town in Phek district and recovered .22 pistol with magazine and three live rounds from his possession.
Additional Commissioner of Police and PRO, Dimapur, stated that case in this connection has been registered at East Police Station for further investigation.
On September 28, Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET) apprehended two person identified as Takusunep Sangtam (25), reportedly a cadre of NSCN-U faction of Kiphire village and presently a resident of Sangtamtilla village, Dimapur; and Botoka Yeptho (21) of Khukishe village, for collecting illegal tax from truck drivers. The team recovered five nos. of vehicle tax receipts and cash of INR 2,625 from their possession.
Case in this connection has been registered at the Sub-Urban Police Station, Dimapur, and investigation is going on.
On September 26, police personnel arrested one person identified as Govinda Singh (30) of Surpo village in Bihar. He was apprehended by the public while attempting to snatch a bag near sub-jail junction, Dimapur.
Dimapur police also arrested nine persons identified as Shaitan Singh, Boshua Rai, Vijay Boro, Suraj Gantharpa, Manoj Thapa, Suman Rongpi, Mohan, Ajay Singh, and Sujit Singh on different occasions during the month of September in possession of illegal liquor. Police recovered a total of 1285 bottles of IMFL from their possession.
Meanwhile, Dimapur police also arrested 22 persons from Chumoukedima check gate for non possession of ILP documents during the month of September. The accused were registered under BEFR Act and forwarded to court, the statement added.
