Dimapur police seem to be loading a lot of freeloaders in the recent times. This time, the Dimapur police have caught four NNC (A) cadres allegedly for extorting from transporters.
Four alleged extortionists have been arrested by the district’s authorities on Thursday. The Dimapur police issued a press release on April 14 with updates about recent enforcement activities.
The authorities informed that members of the public had complained about extortionists in Chumukedima who were allegedly extorting from trucks. Personnel of the the Anti-Extortion Team under zone-I of the Dimapur Police apprehended four persons from Chumukedima on charges of extortion, the police said.
The press release read: They were caught while handing out tax leaflets to the truck drivers. The arrested persons were identified as Selitre, S/o Pikyuse of Seyochung, Kiphire; Katoshe, S/o Yimthi of Yehemi village, Zunheboto; Toyeho Sumi S/o Lt.Aheito of Litsami village, Zunheboto and; Khetovi S/o Khesheto of Shuhibo village, Zunheboto.”
The police said that the arrested persons were all residents in Dimapur and members of the underground faction NNC (NA).
“Various incriminating documents along with two mode of conveyance were seized from their possession. A case is under investigation under Diphupar Police Station,” the police said.
And local youths nab a taxi freeloader
In another case involving robbery, youths of Naga Hospital Colony in Kohima town caught on Thursday a local youth in Kohima allegedly for ‘looting taxis.’
A press release from the authorities said that youths of Naga Hospital Colony “produced” one person on April 14 before Kohima south police station. The youth was identified as one Vekhota Sapu, a 22 year old from Phughwe village under Phek district. The subsequent complaint and an FIR against him alleged that he was involved in “looting of taxi drivers,” the press release said.
“During enquiry it was ascertained that the arrested person on two separate occasions (11th and 12th April 2016) hired taxi B/R No. NL-01T-7935 and NL-01H-7611 and on reaching Jotsoma village snatched away cash and mobile phones of the drivers,” the authorities stated.
A “regular case” has been lodged against him with Kohima south police station, it was informed.
