Dimapur police crackdown criminal activities

Dimapur police display unauthorised blinkers, led lights and modified silencers which were seized on November 25.

Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): In an effort to crackdown criminal activities in the city, Dimapur police apprehended one person identified as Vicky Gogoi (28), a resident of Jalukie town, while extorting money from fruit shops in the name of NSCN (IM) at Burma Camp on November 23.

A police report issued by additional commissioner of police and PRO stated that cash amount of INR 300, one yearly tax extortion document for coconut retailer shops and one motorcycle with fake registration were recovered from his possession. It added that a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.

In another incident on November 25, Dimapur traffic police conducted a surprise enforcement and checking on the use of unauthorised high beam lights, blinkers, led lights in vehicles and modified silencers in two wheelers at Clock Tower area and seized 55 numbers of such unauthorised lights and two numbers of modified silencers. It stated that a total of 47 defaulters were penalised under Motor Vehicle Act.

In yet another incident, Dimapur police arrested one person identified as Adani Mao (54) from a hotel on November 26. It stated that on frisking/ checking, a suspected heroin weighing an approximate 50 gram which was neatly packed inside a soap cases were recovered from his possession.

It further stated that a case in this connection has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.
