Dimapur, Oct. 20: The Dimapur police took to their Facebook page on Sunday to refute reports of a security operation in Dimapur district.
The message posted by Dimapur police read: "Dimapur Police would like to put across this clarification to the public in general, in view of certain misinformation in the social media regarding an impending security operation on a large scale in the district. For the record, no such security exercise has been sanctioned by any official authority. Therefore, it is urged that the circulation of such fake news be desisted immediately."
It further stated that it was "a criminal offence to spread such concocted news with the mischievous intent of instilling insecurity among the public".
