Dimapur POCSO court issues proclamation against absconding accused Robert Kikon, directing him to appear before the special court on August 10.
DIMAPUR — A Special Court in Dimapur has issued a proclamation against Robert Kikon, the accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case, after he allegedly absconded and could not be traced despite the execution of an arrest warrant.
According to a notice issued by the Fast Track Special Court (POCSO), Dimapur, Special Judge Khesheli Chishi invoked Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), directing Peter Chumbemo Kikon alias Robert Kikon, a native of Mekokla village in Wokha district who was reportedly residing at Kacharigaon in Dimapur, to appear before the court.
The notice stated that the accused is wanted in connection with offences punishable under Section 238 of the BNS read with Sections 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
The court observed that the arrest warrant issued against the accused could not be executed as he could not be found and that it was satisfied he had absconded or was concealing himself to evade the warrant.
The accused has been directed to appear before the Fast Track Special Court (POCSO), Dimapur, at 10.30 am on August 10, failing which further legal proceedings may follow.
