Dimapur, March 6 (EMN): The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Dimapur district was conducted on March 6 at the deputy commissioner’s office in Dimapur.
During the meeting, Deputy CVO Dr. Asenuo Linyu highlighted the activities and programmes of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department.
Also, the department of Education gave a similar presentation.
Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control Jacob Zhimomi, also the chairman of the DPDB, stressed on the need for supply of safe drinking water to schools and advised the department in concern to work with allied departments. Pointing out that the government was the only employer for the state, he observed that Nagaland was faced with the issue of ‘access employees as well as unemployment problem.’Further, maintaining School Education department to be the only human resource department in the state, Jacob Zhimomi expressed concern at the shortage of mathematics and science teachers. This issue is a major concern for the government, he said, besides the practice of keeping proxy teachers.
“We cannot do magic overnight but can minimise the proxy system gradually by putting our heads and working out together,” he said.
Also, he has advised the Veterinary department to invite the district administration and municipal officials to frame a marketing policy for the interest and benefit of poultry farmers.
The deputy commissioner of Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome termed the board an important platform for the members to share their views for the betterment of the district. He urged the members to participate and make the board’s meetings interactive.
Based on verification reports from officials, the board approved the registration of ACME Club of Kuhuboto subdivision and Sewak Nursery school. It also approved the ‘Digi Campaign’ for Dimapur, which is to enhance and expedite financial transactions digitally.
The board has entrusted the Employment department and the Industrial Training Institute, for women, to give their reports in the next board meeting.
