KOHIMA — Dimapur and Phek districts have been conferred recognition awards for outstanding performance and exemplary contribution as best performing districts under the initiatives of the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan.
The awards cited their dedication and commitment towards advancing tribal welfare, empowerment, and inclusive development.
The awards were presented during the ‘Aadi Karmayogi National Conclave’ held on October 17 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
According to an update from M Kichung Phom, Nodal Officer, Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, the event focused on the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan —a national movement aimed at empowering tribal communities and building a decentralised tribal leadership ecosystem.
The conclave was organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and graced by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, as the chief guest.
Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, along with other ministers, officials, and representatives from tribal communities across the country, also attended the conclave.

The central theme of the conclave revolved around the ‘Tribal Village Vision 2030,’ which seeks to translate ideas into actionable plans for comprehensive tribal development.
President Murmu stated that the goal of the Abhiyan is to make every tribal village self-reliant and ensure that tribal communities fully participate in the nation’s development.
It stated that the initiative aims to train 20 lakh ‘change-leaders’ across one lakh tribal villages in 550 tribal-dominated districts.
These leaders, known as Adi Karmayogis and Adi Sahyogis, will serve as drivers of governance and service providers within their communities.
Murmu presented awards to top-performing states, districts, blocks, and integrated tribal development agencies for their efforts in implementing the Abhiyan. Madhya Pradesh was among the states recognised for its outstanding performance.
A ‘Tribal Business Conclave’ was also announced during the event, scheduled for November 12, to promote tribal entrepreneurship.
From Nagaland, a delegation led by Angelina Tajen, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, along with officials from the Rural Development, Social Welfare, Health & Family Welfare, Education, and other departments, participated in the conclave.
