Preparatory coordination meetings were held in Dimapur and Peren districts ahead of the 80th Independence Day.
DIMAPUR — Preparatory meetings for the forthcoming 80th Independence Day celebrations were held in Dimapur and Peren to discuss department responsibilities and logistical arrangements.
Dimapur: In Dimapur, a meeting was held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC) on July 30 under the chairmanship of Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Dimapur Wiridin.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting reviewed the proposed programme for the Independence Day celebration to be held on August 15 and discussed the distribution of responsibilities among various government departments and agencies to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
During the meeting, responsibilities for different ceremonial and logistical arrangements were assigned to the departments concerned. Wiridin urged all departments to carry out their assigned responsibilities efficiently and maintain close coordination to ensure the celebrations are conducted in a befitting manner.
Peren: Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, chaired a coordination meeting at the conference hall of the DC's office in Peren on Monday to discuss preparations for the celebration.

Addressing the meeting, Meru stated that Independence Day is one of the most significant national occasions and urged all government departments and officials to accord it the highest priority.
He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments and institutions to ensure the successful conduct of the celebration. He further called upon all concerned to extend full cooperation and carry out their assigned responsibilities with sincerity and commitment.
The meeting deliberated on various arrangements, including the overall programme, parade, cultural presentations, security, medical assistance, public address system, sanitation, and other logistical requirements. Work distribution among the concerned departments and institutions was discussed, and responsibilities were assigned.
The meeting also resolved to organise a district-wide mass social work programme on August 7 in preparation for the celebration. The executive engineer of PWD (R&B) was entrusted as the overall in-charge, while the EAC (Sadar) was assigned as the liaison officer for the programme.
Meru directed all government departments to participate actively, stating that attendance and participation in the national day celebration are compulsory. He also requested all departments to set up exhibition stalls during the celebration, extending the initiative to all departments instead of limiting it to the Agriculture and allied departments and the Forest department, as had been the practice in previous years.
