Dimapur observes population stabilisation fortnight

Dimapur, July 25 (EMN): Population stabilisation fortnight was observed in Dimapur district under the theme “Preparation for family planning even in times of disaster. Full responsibility of competent nation and family,” from July 11 to 24.

According to an update on Saturday, during the two-week long observation, family planning activities such as permanent female sterilisation, temporary sterilisation, distribution of condoms and contraceptive pills, inter-personal communications, and distribution of IEC materials were carried out throughout the district.

Laproscopic tubal ligation sterilization, a permanent method of female sterilization procedure was carried out at Community Health Centre, Medziphema by Dr. Botoho and team and at Urban Primary Health Centre, Duncan by Dr. Kutshutho, obstetrics and gynecology of District Hospital Dimapur and team. Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) commonly known as copper-t insertion, a temporary method of female sterilisation was conducted at various community health centres and primary health centres in the district.

Altogether a total of 68 permanent female sterilisation and 30 IUCD insertions were conducted throughout the district and 163 oral contraceptive pills and 1200 condoms were distributed.

Auxiliary nurse and midwives (ANMs) and accredited social health activists and IEC staff also carried out inter-personal communication in the form of FGD and one-on-one counseling.
