Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): Under the national vector borne disease control programme (NVBDCP), Dimapur division is observing the anti-malaria month during June by carrying out awareness activities.
During the period, public were made aware on the preventive measures of malaria and other vector borne diseases. The department also informed that emphasis would be laid on the importance of using mosquito net, curb breeding of mosquitoes, and using other mosquito repellents.
Malaria screening camps were also carried out in villages in the district. Besides preventive measures, the public were also made aware of the facilities provided free-of-cost by the government for testing and treatment of malaria in the district. Awareness programmes were also carried out for school children and their parents.
Altogether six villages namely Pehekhu, Lothavi, Naharbari, Medziphema, Singrijan, and Nagarjan have been covered during the month-long observation. The urban areas are also being covered under the Urban Malaria Scheme.
