Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited conducts training on modern technologies of horticulture in Dimapur and Niuland.

DIMAPUR — Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL), a national level organisation working for agri-based livelihood promotion, conducted training programmes at L Hotovi village under Dimapur district and Pishikhu village under Niuland district, on August 16 and the 18th, respectively.
The training programme, focussing on modern technologies of horticulture, was supported by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India, an update stated.
“BKSL and CIH are putting efforts to strengthen the overall farming skills of the farmer’s by adopting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming, value addition at local level and exploring alternate markets for better price realisation,” it stated.
Fifty farmers from each village attended the training sessions, equipped with action plans to boost productivity, secure better prices, and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Resource person Sam Taro from the Spice Board of India, Dimapur Branch, highlighted the benefits of government schemes for farmer welfare, shared techniques for horticulture farming in the area, and emphasised good agricultural practices.

He stressed the importance of organic farming, healthy food habits, and growing agricultural products naturally without using pesticides or harmful chemicals.
The second resource person, Ariba Anar, State Coordinator of North East Region Agri-Commodity E-connect Nagaland, highlighted market linkages for local farmers to sell their agriculture and horticulture products in both local and national markets on a large scale, provided production can meet market demands.
Anar also highlighted modern horticulture farming technologies that cater to current demands, such as pink guava, bay leaves, and oil seeds cultivation, which are suitable for the region.
The training programme generated enthusiasm among participants, with village authorities and elderly men and women showing their support through active presence."
Meanwhile, Aakam Pame, Project Coordinator, Basix Krishi Samrudhi Limited, Nagaland, expressed gratitude to the resource persons for their valuable contributions to the farmers' training and the village authority for their enthusiastic support.
