Student bodies praised Dimapur Naga Students' Union after cancellation of an Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate in Dimapur.

DIMAPUR — Student organisations have lauded the Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) for its stand over the issuance of an Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate in the name of Nirmal Jain and thanked the Dimapur district administration for cancelling the certificate.
In a press release, the Chakhro Angami Kuda Students' Union (CAKSU) appreciated DNSU for its “firm stand and timely intervention” in addressing the issue.
The union acknowledged the consistent efforts of DNSU in ensuring that the concerns of the Naga community are upheld with integrity and responsibility.
CAKSU also appreciated the Dimapur district administration for taking decisive action in cancelling the certificate. It stated that such measures reaffirm the importance of accountability and due process in matters that directly impact indigenous identity and rights.
The union further extended support to the decision of DNSU to pursue legal action by filing a First Information Report (FIR). CAKSU maintained that any act involving misrepresentation or forgery must be thoroughly investigated and addressed in accordance with the law.

The union also called upon the student community and the public to remain alert and united in safeguarding the identity, rights, and future of the indigenous people. It stated that collective responsibility and adherence to the rule of law are essential in ensuring that such issues are addressed effectively.
CAKSU reiterated its commitment to stand in solidarity with all rightful efforts aimed at protecting the interests and identity of the Naga people.
In a separate statement, the Dimapur Rengma Students' Union (DRSU) conveyed appreciation to DNSU for its commitment in “safeguarding and upholding the indigenous identity and rights of the Naga people”.
The union stated that the efforts demonstrated by DNSU in the matter stand as a positive example of responsible leadership.
DRSU also expressed gratitude to the Dimapur district administration, led by the deputy commissioner, for its decisive action in cancelling the certificate.
The union appealed to all Nagas to remain aware, united and proactive in safeguarding identity, rights and heritage. It stated that people should stand together, uphold the rule of law and continue to work collectively to ensure that rights are protected and preserved for future generations.
