DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) has condemned the alleged illegal mutation and fraudulent transfer of land under Patta No. 890, which had already been cancelled on November 23, 2009, vide Deputy Commissioner Order No. REV-20/008-D/8979-83.
According to an update issued by the union, despite its lawful cancellation, the said land was unlawfully mutated through tampering with the original Field Chitha Book (dated 2012) and transferred into the names of Girdharlal Sharma, Bajrang Lal Pareek, and Kumar Sharma.
This act constitutes a serious violation of law and administrative integrity, the union stated. Furthermore, it pointed out that the individuals involved do not possess valid indigenous certifications, raising grave concerns over the legality and legitimacy of such transactions.
The land in question was reportedly procured from Nirmal Jain through the use of local or benami names, with the transactions being witnessed and facilitated under questionable circumstances.

The union noted that it has already exposed Girdharlal Sharma, Dr. Sundar Pareek, and Vinod Kumar Sharma in the media and issued a stern warning to any individual or group attempting to engage in or facilitate such illegal transfers. Any act that undermines or subjugates this issue is not merely unlawful but directly against the rights and interests of the Naga people, it stated.
"This is not an isolated land dispute; it is a matter that concerns the collective rights, identity, and future of the Nagas. Land and its resources are intrinsic to our existence, and we cannot allow external elements to exploit or encroach upon what rightfully belongs to our people. While population may increase, land remains finite and must be protected with utmost vigilance," the statement read.
In light of the issue, the union appealed to the government and concerned authorities to immediately halt any issuance, mutation, or transfer of the said land until the matter is thoroughly investigated and resolved.
It demanded the initiation of strict legal action against all individuals involved in the alleged manipulation of official land records. Furthermore, it urged authorities to identify and seize all lands acquired through benami or illegal means and ensure such lands are preserved for or utilised in the interest of the Naga public.
