
DMC sanitation workers are seen cleaning the drainage at New
Market area on Saturday.
- DIMAPUR — In the
interest of public hygiene and sanitation, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC)
on Saturday undertook a cleanliness drive in New Market area.
- Akaho Aye, personal secretary to Dimapur Ward-19 councilor
Kili N Sumi, informed that that the cleanliness drive in New Market area is an
ongoing initiative. He informed that ever since Kili N Sumi was elected as
councilor, her top priority has been to clean the main drainage system running
through New Market.
- Aye also informed that similar cleanliness drives around
seven to eight times have been carried out till date.

- Regarding the issue of garbage being dumped into the
drainage by the public, he mentioned that Ward-19 councilor, Kili N Sumi, has
issued a notice to all surrounding buildings, strictly prohibiting the disposal
of waste into the drainage. He added that those found violating the directive
would be held responsible and made to clean the drainage themselves. Besides,
he informed that the ongoing cleaning efforts are being carried out in
preparation for the approaching monsoon season.
- During the cleanliness drive, all shops and business
establishments located within New Market remain closed until the completion of
the drive. The drive was aimed at enhancing the sanitation and overall hygiene
of the area for the benefit of the citizens of Dimapur.
