Dimapur Municipal Council orders overhead wire cleanup within 7 days
Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed telecom and internet service providers, cable TV operators, and other companies or organisations concerned to “untangle and organise all overhead wires” within their respective operational areas within seven days.
- DIMAPUR — The
Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed telecom and internet service
providers, cable TV operators, and other companies or organisations concerned
to “untangle and organise all overhead wires” within their respective
operational areas within seven days.
- In an order issued on Thursday, the municipal body informed
that this is in the interest of public safety, urban aesthetics, and the
upcoming cleanliness and beautification drive initiated by the Beautification
Branch of the DMC.
- According to the DMC, numerous overhead wires, including
electrical, internet, and telecom cables, are tangled and unorganised across
various locations under the jurisdiction of DMC, particularly in and around the
Road Over Bridge (flyover) from Deluxe Point to Tourist Lodge.
- Such tangled and unregulated wires not only pose a serious
hazard to public safety but also significantly affect the visual appeal of the
city, it stated.
- Therefore, the DMC directed the service provider and
companies responsible for overhead wiring to untangle and organise all overhead
wires within their respective operational areas to avoid any hanging or loose
cables and also to remove all unused and abandoned wires within seven days of
issuance of the notice.
- “Failure to comply with this directive within the stipulated
period shall lead to legal action against the defaulting company/organisation,”
the order added.
