- DIMAPUR — Citing
concerns about public inconvenience and economic disruption, the Dimapur
Municipal Council (DMC) has expressed opposition to the indefinite shutter down
called by the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI).
- In a press release issued on Sunday, the DMC acknowledged
the importance of transparent and representative governance but contended that
such widespread protest actions are detrimental to the public and essential
services.
- According to the council, the demands of a specific sector
should not be addressed at the expense of the entire community.

- "The DMC is acutely aware of the need to promote
business and commerce at a time when other cities in the region are moving
ahead at a fast pace. Such disruptions negatively impact the socio-economic
condition of the city and its public," the statement read.
- Therefore, the DMC declared that it will not support the
shutdown within its jurisdiction.
- Furthermore, the DMC appealed to the business community, trade
organisations, and the general public to exercise restraint and responsibility.
- The council urged all commercial establishments to remain
open and continue their operations without fear or succumbing to pressure.
- The DMC also requested the full cooperation of the Dimapur
business community and public in maintaining peace, order, and continued
economic activity during this period of potential disruption.
