DIMAPUR — Dimapur’s
New Market, the busiest commercial hub in Nagaland, remained shut on Monday as
the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI)
launched an indefinite voluntary shutdown across nine districts of the state.
The shutdown, which began on Monday, saw widespread closure
of business establishments in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Zunheboto,
Meluri, Phek, Wokha, Peren, and Tseminyu.
In Dimapur, New Market and surrounding town areas wore a
deserted look, with all shops and major commercial outlets closed. Key areas
including Clock Tower area, GS Road, Nyamo Lotha Road, Dhobinala, Khermahal,
and the Durga Mandir area were fully shut.
At Super Market area, while most establishments remained
closed, a few local vendors, grocery stores, and restaurants continued limited
operations. Similarly, Vishal Market and Shopper’s Stop mall at Khermahal were
among the few outlets that stayed open.
