  • DIMAPUR — Dimapur’s New Market, the busiest commercial hub in Nagaland, remained shut on Monday as the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI) launched an indefinite voluntary shutdown across nine districts of the state.

  • The shutdown, which began on Monday, saw widespread closure of business establishments in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Zunheboto, Meluri, Phek, Wokha, Peren, and Tseminyu.

  • In Dimapur, New Market and surrounding town areas wore a deserted look, with all shops and major commercial outlets closed. Key areas including Clock Tower area, GS Road, Nyamo Lotha Road, Dhobinala, Khermahal, and the Durga Mandir area were fully shut.

  • At Super Market area, while most establishments remained closed, a few local vendors, grocery stores, and restaurants continued limited operations. Similarly, Vishal Market and Shopper’s Stop mall at Khermahal were among the few outlets that stayed open.

  • Shops in residential colonies and along the highway stretch from Purana Bazar junction to 5th Mile Green Park Auto Junction remained mostly open. However, from 5th Mile onwards toward Chümoukedima town, including the popular CT Square, nearly all shops were shuttered.

  • Outside Dimapur, commercial shutdowns were reported in other affected districts including Peren, Zunheboto, Meluri, Phek, Niuland, and Tseminyu.

  • Meanwhile, the CNCCI has called a press conference scheduled for 4:30 pm today at Hotel Saramati, where further details about the indefinite shutter down are expected to be addressed.
