Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): A two-day golden jubilee celebration of the Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) got underway with the unfurling of the union flag by the special guest and advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, at Dimapur Government College auditorium on October 14 on the theme ‘Envisioning radiant posterity.’
Speaking on the occasion, Yanthan stated that celebrating 50 years has a big significance saying that it is about remembering and lauding the pioneers for their contributions and to continue upholding their good works. He urged the gathering to do good work by incorporating as their lifestyle and way of life.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]The advisor also asked the audience how much they value their identity and community and how far they could uplift and support their community through their actions and deeds.
While emphasising on the importance of mother tongue, he advised the students to promote their mother tongue as it identifies their being. He also urged the gathering to understand one’s own culture and identity.
Yanthan encouraged the students to learn to respect one another, love each other and stand as one for the community to progress.
‘Be an ambassador and uphold the community land "Land of plenty" by utilising it in a better way, by sharing and loving,’ he said.
Stating that Naga’s were known for their hard work, honesty, dedication and sincerity, he called upon to retrospect and also give importance to their traditional attire, folk songs and dances. He also encouraged the students to make the most of their time and prepare themselves to be self-sufficient by becoming an entrepreneur.
With rapid change taking place in the world, the advisor further advised the students to learn to be a part of change, broaden their understanding, adopt and bring change by being responsible and be a chain of change.
On the occasion, the union has felicitated pioneers of the Lotha community as well as HSLC and HSSLC meritorious students.
The celebration would culminate on October 15, with deputy chief minister, Yanthungo Patton, as chief guest in the morning session, while MLA and advisor of IT, Science & Technology, New and Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon, would be special guest in the evening session. The programme would culminate with jubilee nite featuring various local artistes.
