Dimapur, Dec 2: Secretary of Horticulture, Alan Gonmei launched online registration of farmers under National e- Governance Plan for Agriculture (NeGPA) on December 2 in Kisama.
He said through this programme, farmers will now have access the backing of the experts and scientists, adding all farmers will be benefited by means of SMS where one can ask any query about the schemes or programmes under Horticulture Department. He also mentioned that both department officials and farmers are equally important for the success of the programme. He, therefore, urged all concerned to put concerted efforts for the successful registration of farmers through online.
Director of Horticulture, Pawan Kumar, in his keynote address said, NeGPA is for bringing farmers centricity and service orientation and enhancing farmers reach and impact of extension service to the farmers. He mentioned that the programme will not only help farmers have access to information and services but also enhance and integrate the existing ICT initiatives of Centre and State.
Secretary of Higher Education, HRD, GOI, Vinay Sheel Oberio, also visited the Hortiscape.
Deputy Director and Nodal Officer NeGPA, Qhutovi Wotsa chaired the inaugural programme and consultant NeGPA, Alongla Aier demonstrated how to register through online system. Large number of farmers turned up and registered their names during the programme.
