Kohima Nov. 2 (EMN): Dimapur Government College (DGC) will be playing host to the biennial All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) collegiate meet which is slated to be held on the theme “Invigorating young talents” from November 13 to 17 with Temjen Imna Along, minister of higher & technical education, as the chief host.
Speaking to media persons, Benjong Longchar, ANCSU vice president, said Tongpang Ozukum, minister of PWD; Relo T Aye, ADCP (crime branch), Dimapur; Dr, Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, advisor of rural development; and Er. Zale Neikha, advisor of youth resources and sports, will grace the meet as special invitees.
He said 1500 delegates from 41 affiliated colleges have confirmed to attend the meet. He added that apart from football for boys and volley ball for girls, beat contest, two new activities have been added to this year edition namely badminton mixed doubles and Miss ANCSU.
Speaking about the inclusion of the two new activities, Vimeyiekho Vitso, ANCSU general secretary, said the union decided to include two new activities from this year in order to broaden the platform for the students to showcase and hone their talents further.
He went on to state that many budding musicians and sportspersons have utilised the platform provided by ANCSU as a good experience in their chosen path and shone even at the national levels.
Benjong Longchar also reminded the participating college authorities to clear their payment of membership fee collection and annual collection for collegiate meet by November 5 failing which the concerned college will not be allowed to participate in the meet.
