Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): Dimapur District GBs’ Association (DDGBA) has decided to proceed with the election of office bearers for the tenure 2019-2023 on January 22. The association has issued this statement in responds to some tribe executive members opposing to the proposed election.
In a clarification, the association president, Tokuho Suhoi Neho, and the general secretary, T Kenneth Tsopoe, stated that the decision to extend the present office bearers to hold DDGBA office for another six months from June to November 2018 was approved during its executive meeting on June 16, 2018, following which a general session was also held on November 24.
It stated that all the eight administrative unit executive members and tribal representatives had a meeting on December 12, 2018, wherein 30 members who present resolved to allow the old team make necessary arrangement for the eight unit executive members and 16 recognised tribal executives to elect new team of DDGBA office bearers within January 2019.
The executive also resolved that GB who does not subscribe yearly membership fee would not be allowed to participate in the association activities as per the constitution (Yehzabo) article 5 clause 3 which was notified on November 10, 2018.
In view of the above stated circumstances, the association has decided to proceed with the election of new office bearers for the tenure 2019-2023.
