Dimapur Football League 2nd edition announced

Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, Aug. 8: The second edition of Dimapur Football League (DFL), organised by Naga United Football Club under the aegis of Dimapur District Football Association (DDFA), will be held from September 3 to September 30 at the Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC) stadium. This was informed by the Naga United FC at a press conference held at the Vivid Lounge in Dimapur on August 8. The organisers said that it aim at providing a platform to talented football players through the DFL as they felt Dimapur district do not have much opportunity for footballer as not many tournaments are conducted on the sport in the city despite having many talented players. In the first edition of DFL, eight teams participated and P Vizheto FC walked away with the trophy. However, the organisers are expecting the number of teams to increase to 12. Matches will be played every day except on Sundays, informed the organisers. "If there are more entries, screening will be conducted for the clubs for participation,” the organisers said. Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports Zale Neikha has consented to grace the opening ceremony of the league and prizes will be given away to the champion, runners-up and six individual winners. The organisers informed that registration form for participation in the tournament can be collected from its office at the DDSC stadium Room No. 8 before August 20. However, the competition is open only to Dimapur-based football clubs.
