DIMAPUR — The office of the deputy commissioner (DC), Dimapur, is set to temporarily shift to the Survey Training Institute (STI) at Purana Bazaar to pave way for construction of a new administrative building.
The relocation is expected to take place between March 15 and 20, following a government order issued in 2023 for construction of a new DC office complex.
Speaking to news channels on Saturday, DC Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang said that the relocation will be temporary, as the existing DC office building will be dismantled to facilitate construction of the new structure.
Chang informed that the STI at Purana Bazaar has been earmarked as the temporary office site and renovation work at the premises is currently underway.

He also stated that the Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) will decide the firm or contractor to be entrusted with the construction of the new building.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) submitted a four-point memorandum to the deputy commissioner seeking clarification regarding the relocation.
The demands include details on the exact location of the temporary office, the proposed date of shifting, the detailed project report (DPR) of the new building, the expected timeline for completion, and the name of the firm or contractor entrusted with the construction work.
Speaking to the media, DUCCF vice president Tongzuk Pongen said the memorandum was submitted to maintain transparency and accountability.
