Dimapur, Dec. 9 (EMN): Dimapur District Congress Committee (DCC) celebrated pre-Christmas on December 8 at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur.
Speaking on the occasion, DCC vice president Chuba Aier said, the true spirit of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ rather than meaningless enjoyment with feasting and good clothes. He also said it is a time to rejoice and reconnect with God and to invite His presence into their homes remembering that he gave His only son to save mankind from the punishment of sins and gives everlasting life to all who believe.
Challenging Congressmen and women to celebrate the joyous season in the true spirit, Aier urged the gathering to inculcate a God-fearing attitude in all party activities so that the doors to the promised blessings might be opened. He further conveyed best wishes to the party rank and file.
NPCC vice president Jonathan Ao, who also addressed the celebration, appreciated the selfless contributions of party rank and file for unwavering support and exhorted all Congressmen and women to continue with the same spirit. Exuding optimism that brighter days are approaching, he encouraged the gathering to remain sincere and steadfast.
The pre-Christmas celebration was chaired by Kutoho Chishi, secretary of media cell, and Mrs Savi, DMCC vice president, invoked God’s blessings. Akashe Yeptho, DYC vice president, read the Bible, while Kikhevi, DCC vice president, proposed the vote of thanks and Khekiho Yeptho, ACCC 5-Ghaspani II working president said the benediction.
The programme also saw special performances by NK Naga and Ajit while the Christmas cake was cut by DCC president, A Bendangyanger Jamir.
