DIMAPUR — Dimapur
Chaos emerged champions after defeating Peregrines Club Football 2-0 in the
final of the first Dr. KC Nihoshe Memorial Open Football Tournament played at
the District Sports Council ground in Zunheboto on Thursday.
Dimapur Chaos displayed excellent teamwork and skills, with
Honato and Nungsanh scoring the winning goals, an update stated.
The closing ceremony was attended by Major Prince Fernandez
of the 11 Battalion Assam Rifles, Zunheboto, as the guest of honour.
In his address, Major Fernandez expressed gratitude for
being part of a prestigious event and lauded the Trojans Club for organising
the tournament in memory of Dr. KC Nihoshe.
Emphasising the importance of supporting young talent, he
remarked, “Today you’re playing here, but who knows, some of you might even
make it to the FIFA World Cup or Manchester. Keep your eyes on these youngsters
and give them your love and affection.”
Hokato Yepthomi, president of the Trojans Club, acknowledged
the contributions of all involved in the tournament.
Sukhalu village, which provided food, accommodation and
logistic support for the players of Dimapur Chaos, also received special
recognition for their support.
