Dimapur, Dec.15 (EMN): The Dimapur Night Carnival for 2019 in Dimapur has concluded with a promise for innovation and new ideas for youths. The closing programme of the event was conducted on December 15 at the Supermarket in Dimapur.
Speaking as the special guest of the event, the general secretary of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, Badu Damani, also the advisor to the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed hope for a better and 'beautiful' carnival in the coming years too.
Damani congratulated the organisers for the successful carnival. He spoke about the first time the Dimapur Night Carnival began at the NL road. The location had to be shifted due to problems, he said. The carnival now has changed much, both for the stalls and festival goers.
Dimapur being the commercial capital of Nagaland, Damani said, ‘We, the people of Dimapur, will be playing important roles in the economy and lifestyle for the entire Nagaland.’
While lauding the organisers of the event for the work they have done for the community, he urged them to work toward a ‘beautiful’ and better carnival next year with more innovation and ideas so that everyone would be happy to participate in the festival.
Naga artists also performed at the programme. After the programme, the crowd was treated to music from DJ Ina and DJ Noel.
Hannah's Happiness Project
While the Dimapur Night Carnival brought out many new and innovative ideas, there had been some instances that helped the community to connect with people from many other places.
A fresh aspect to the event was in the form of an energetic youth from England, Hannah Kern.
Kern, solo cyclists, enthralled festival goers with her 'playing with fire performance' and a heart-to-heart speech at the programme. With her project called 'HansHappinessProject,' Kern is currently cycling alone from Vietnam to the United Kingdom, with her message aimed at 'women’s safety and empowerment.'
She is currently touring the Northeast region, teaching free environmental programmes in schools. She is currently working at Livingstone International Foundation in Dimapur, raising awareness about issues surrounding Climate Change.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Kern said, 'Everyone can be beautiful and happy with any stress' and that happiness is what everyone should be able to have.
