Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board for the month of June was held on June 6 in the Conference Hall of the deputy commissioner of Dimapur.
The district’s Deputy Commissioner Kesonyu Yhome, also the vice chairman of the board, welcomed and felicitated the new chairman of Dimapur DPDB, SI Jamir, also the advisor of Urban Development. The DRDA of Dimapur and Dimapur Government College gave a report, highlighting various activities and programmes implemented by them.
In the meeting, the board after discussion and basing on the verification reports recommended for registration of the following societies: C-Edge College Alumni Association, Naga United Village, Wild Berries Society, Vidima village, Helping Hand Foundation, Toulazouma, Widows and Orphans Empowerment Society, Sunrise Colony Burma Camp, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong; Dimapur unit, Dimapur, KudaTego Union, Murgi Patti Dimapur and Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj, Millennium Market Dimapur. The House also recommended for shifting of Mount Hermon School from Model Colony, Purana bazaar to Darogajan village Dimapur.
With regard to the agenda for change of nomenclature and ownership of Union Christian School, Purana Bazaar, the House after deliberation decided to send the documents to the concern officer to get in touch with the concern proprietor as no alternative name of the school was given. On the agenda for obtaining NOC for running B.Ed; M.Ed etc., at Isaac Newton School Dimapur, the Board suggested the proprietor to get detailed clearance from the Education Department.
In the meeting, slides about ‘doubling’ farmers’ income were presented by members of the KVK, Jharnapani. The board also recommended upgrade to government high schools to higher secondary schools in Dimapur.
MLA Tokheho who was also present in the meeting, while expressing concern for the education sector apprised of the dilapidated conditions of the school buildings and problems of posting lectures. He maintained that the people’s representatives as well as the education department are responsible for the welfare and future of the children. Tokheho felt that the education department should come out with a road map to do away with the past mistakes and to create a better education system for the welfare of the students in future.
Apart from the agendas, Kesonyu Yhome informed the house that issues relating to land encroachment would be discussed in the DPDB meetings and requested members to flag issues of land encroachment during DPDB Meetings.
The house further entrusted Irrigation and Flood Control and Taxes Departments to give their departmental presentation in the next DPDB meeting. The meeting ended with vote of thanks from the chair.
