Dimapur, Feb. 5: Dimapur Bangali Samaj organized a special function at Shree Shree RamThakur Ashram to provide financial assistance to students of weaker sections in the form of admission fees and grant for textbooks, on February 5, with Prof. Debasish Datta (Retd) as chief guest and Prof. K. P. Avikasit (Retd) as guest of honour.
Speaking at the programme, the chief guest and guest of honour congratulated Bengali Samaj for their noble venture and exhorted the students to accept the challenges of life by pursuing their studies in all earnest and becoming good human beings and better citizens, and also to share the social responsibilities too after being able to do so.
During the programme, DBS provided assistance to ten students of Shashtri Samaj, who live in tents near Railway tracks.
A total of 75 students were given admission fees and admitted to various schools in Dimapur and 10 students of different classes were provided textbooks.
Kamalakant Paul thanked the guests, the parents and the students and wished them success.
President of DBS, Shree Kamalakant highlighted the various philanthropy projects undertaken by the Samaj and pledged to further continue the good work being done by the samaj with the active cooperation of its members.
Other dignitaries who attended the function included Advocate Swapan Paul, Advocate Yogendra Gupta, Sunil Chakraborty, Abhijit Bhattacharjee, Prabir Sarkar, R. M. Bagchi, Shankar Debnath, Prof. Chhanda Dutta, Prof. Dulal Mazumdar, Shree Ram Prasad Paul, Nirmalendu Baruah, Harender Gupta etc.
