DIMAPUR — The Konyak Union Dimapur (KUD), Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong Dimapur (KNSKD), and Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) have expressed commitment to stand with the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) as it continues efforts to complete the road project from Khelma in Peren district to Tizit in Mon district, popularly known as the ‘Foothills Road Project.’
In a joint statement, the organisations stated that the proposed road connectivity of Mon district with the other districts in Nagaland is a long-cherished dream of the Konyak people, as they continue to face overwhelming hardships while travelling through other states.
They affirmed that the completion of the Foothills Road Project without interruption is their “paramount desire” and expressed strong support for the memorandum submitted by the combined 13 Dimapur-based tribal hohos on February 21, 2026, to the government of Nagaland to issue the second phase work order before the stipulated deadline.

While acknowledging the importance of both the projects, the organisations urged the government to prioritise completion of the ongoing two-lane Foothill Road project under Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) before bringing in the proposal for a transnational highway.
Further, they appealed to the government not to forget the ceaseless efforts of the NFRCC over the last 14 years on the foothills road project and to iron out whatever misunderstandings or differences they have with the NFHRCC so that this long-awaited project would be completed in time without any further disruption.
