Dimapur, Oct. 19: The Dimapur Art Festival (DAF) organised by the Eastern Art Council concluded on October 19 at the Supermarket in Dimapur. The four-day event showcased the artwork of 37 artists from Nagaland. Their works are being displayed at an art gallery at the Supermarket.
The director of Dimapur Airport, Mughavi Zhimo, attended the closing ceremony of the event as its special guest. He lauded the 37 participants of the festival as well as the ones who took part in the art competition.
“Do not neglect your studies but I encourage you to take up arts not only during art festivals but on a regular basis,” Zhimo said.
In his address, Zhimo spoke about renovations at the airport in Dimapur. It will undergo some renovation work in the days to come and the authorities would like to set up an art gallery at the airport to promote local artists.
“I will also request the government of Nagaland and other officials to look into the matter of opening a gallery at the airport in another four to five months,” Zhimo said.
Zhimo expressed belief that with many influential people and other tourists flying in and out of Nagaland may help the artists in selling their artwork. “Many people want to buy art in Nagaland but they do not know where to get them from,” Zhimo said.
The airport director also congratulated and appreciated the participants of the art competition. There were 34 artists in the junior category and 40 in the senior.
