Dimapur, June 7 (EMN): As part of its year-long golden jubilee celebration and commemorating the World Environment Day, Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (AKTD) has organised tree plantation on June 5 Naga cemetery, Inter State Bus Terminus, Dimapur Government College and Senden Reju Dimapur.
The members have pledged to take responsibility of the plant they have planted till the trees are fully grown in respective places. The jubilee planning committee has also resolved to give away cash award to the best growers at the culmination of the jubilee programme scheduled in the last part of this year.
In a brief formal launching programme held on June 5 morning at Senden Reju, representative from Forest department, Vivika A Sema, forest range officer, has thanked AKTD for its initiative in making environment better and encouraged the students not only think of protecting environment but think seriously to create better environment. He also appealed the students to take active part in beating the plastic pollution as chosen theme for this year World Environment Day and create awareness with one’s own action.
The programme was presided over by AKTD general secretary, Moayanger Jamir, while the vote of thanks was pronounced by AKTD golden jubilee planning committee secretary, Mozen Aier.
